Apple unveiled a new Apple TV 4K on 13 October 2026, its first update since 2022. It brings an A19 chip, built in microphones for hands free Siri, WiFi 7 and support for the new Siri AI. However, it also costs a lot more than the old model, and some of its best AI features will come to older boxes too.
Therefore, here is everything you need to know before you order.
Apple TV 4K price and release date
According to Apple’s announcement, preorders opened on 13 October in the US and 29 other countries and regions. The box reaches stores on Friday, 13 November 2026.

Also, there is only one model this time: 128GB with Gigabit Ethernet and Thread. As a result, the cheap WiFi only version is gone. For comparison, the 2022 Apple TV 4K launched at $129.
What’s new in the Apple TV 4K
Overall, the upgrade list is long, so here are the parts that matter most:
- A19 chip: Apple claims up to 50% faster CPU and up to twice the graphics speed of the last model, plus a dedicated AV1 decoder for efficient streaming.
- Three far field microphones: you can say “Siri” from the sofa while a show plays, in supported languages.
- WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6: faster, steadier wireless streaming.
- Gigabit Ethernet and Thread as standard: useful for smart home control.
- Four speaker surround: pair two HomePod mini 2 or HomePod (2nd generation) speakers at the front and a matching pair at the back. Older models only supported two speakers.
- Video formats: up to 4K at 60 frames per second with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG, plus Dolby Atmos.

Siri AI on the Apple TV 4K
Above all, Siri AI is the headline feature. On the TV, it opens a full screen view and shows search results as poster art, so you can browse rather than read a list. In addition, you can ask follow up questions during playback, such as who an actor is, and the answer appears in a small overlay.
Siri AI can also use personal context from your paired iPhone. Apple’s example is “Play the show Alinda recommended.” Similarly, you can run smart home scenes with your voice, hands free.
There are some limits, though. Siri AI on Apple TV is a beta and needs tvOS 27.2. At launch it works in English only, in eight countries: the US, UK, Canada, Australia, India, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa. It also needs a home owner with an Apple Intelligence iPhone or iPad. Apple says some server features have daily limits, and expanded access may cost extra in the future.
Apple Intelligence also improves HomeKit Secure Video. As a result, cameras can now describe what they see and summarise alerts, which appear on the TV. That part needs an iCloud+ plan.

The new Siri Remote
The Siri Remote keeps its design but adds Find My, so you can make it play a sound when it slips down the sofa. With an iPhone 17 or later (not the 17e), iPhone Air or iPhone Duo, Precision Finding points you straight to it. The remote comes in the box and also sells on its own for $59. Usefully, it works with every Apple TV 4K and the Apple TV HD.

Should you upgrade your Apple TV 4K?
For many owners, the honest answer is no. Siri AI also comes to the 2021 and 2022 Apple TV 4K through tvOS 27.2. So if your current box streams smoothly, you already get the biggest software change for free. Likewise, if you only want the Find My remote, you can buy it alone for $59.
On the other hand, the new box makes sense in a few cases:
- You want hands free Siri without picking up the remote.
- You plan a four HomePod surround setup.
- You stream a lot of AV1 content or play games on the TV.
- You still use an Apple TV HD or a first generation Apple TV 4K.
- You want a strong Thread hub for a growing smart home.

Things Apple has not confirmed yet
However, Apple has not listed the RAM inside the new Apple TV 4K, although reports expect 8GB. It also has not said which tvOS version ships in the box. Meanwhile, we will update this guide once reviews and the November release confirm these details.
