Lenovo sells more laptops than almost anyone, and in 2026 nearly every new Yoga and IdeaPad model is an AI laptop. That sounds simple. However, the range is huge. In fact, there are three main lines, three chip makers and a new AI assistant called Qira.
Therefore, this guide explains how the lines differ, what the AI features actually do, and which Lenovo AI laptop makes sense for your budget. Prices are Lenovo’s estimated US starting prices, so check your local store.
What makes a Lenovo laptop an AI laptop?
First of all, an AI laptop has a dedicated NPU (neural processing unit) that runs AI tasks efficiently on the device. The key benchmark is Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC standard: an NPU of at least 40 TOPS, 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, according to Microsoft’s Windows 11 specifications.
At CES 2026, Lenovo listed every new Windows Yoga and IdeaPad laptop it announced as a Copilot+ PC. In addition, they use one of three chip families:
- Snapdragon X2 Elite and X2 Plus: NPU rated at 80 TOPS, with excellent battery life.
- Intel Core Ultra Series 3: NPU up to 50 TOPS, with the widest app support.
- AMD Ryzen AI 400: NPU up to 60 TOPS, with strong graphics for the price.
To see what that NPU unlocks in Windows, read our list of Copilot+ PC features.
Lenovo Qira: the new AI assistant
Lenovo Qira is Lenovo’s own assistant, announced in January 2026. It replaces Lenovo AI Now, and existing AI Now users get Qira as an over the air upgrade. Also, Qira works across Lenovo PCs, tablets and Motorola phones.
For example, its main tools include:
- Write For Me: drafts and rewrites text in any app.
- Catch Me Up: summarises what you missed across messages and documents.
- Pay Attention: transcribes and translates meetings or lectures.
According to Lenovo’s announcement, Qira runs on the device where possible and uses the cloud for heavier tasks. Lenovo also says it never collects customer data without permission. However, Lenovo has not listed which tasks stay fully on the laptop, so check the privacy settings after setup. Since IFA 2026, Lenovo says Qira works on eligible Lenovo PCs with 16GB of memory, in select configurations and markets.
Lenovo AI laptop lines explained
Yoga: premium design and creators
First, Yoga is Lenovo’s premium consumer line, with OLED screens and slim metal bodies. In addition, some Intel models carry the “Aura Edition” label, which adds smart modes, easy phone sharing and support tools.
IdeaPad: best value
Next, IdeaPad covers everyday and student laptops. In 2026 it gives you Copilot+ features at much lower prices. The new IdeaPad Vibe starts at $699.99, although only some configurations qualify as Copilot+ PCs.
ThinkPad: business and IT teams
Finally, ThinkPad focuses on durability, security and company management. Moreover, Lenovo says the 2026 ThinkPads support Copilot+ experiences on compatible configurations, with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 or AMD Ryzen AI PRO 400 chips.

Lenovo laptops for serious local AI
If you want to run large AI models on the laptop itself, an NPU is not enough. Instead, you need a strong GPU and lots of memory. At IFA in September 2026, Lenovo showed the Yoga Pro 9n and Yoga 9n 2 in 1 with NVIDIA RTX Spark chips. The Yoga Pro 9n offers up to 128GB of unified memory and the Yoga 9n 2 in 1 up to 64GB, so both can run much bigger models locally. Both start at $2,999.99 in the US and began shipping on 16 October 2026. Our RTX Spark laptop guide explains the chip.
Which Lenovo AI laptop should you buy?
Students and everyday users: an IdeaPad with Snapdragon X2 or Ryzen AI 400 gives you Copilot+ features and good battery life at a fair price.
Long battery life and portability: the Yoga Slim 7x with Snapdragon X2 is the pick. Snapdragon chips lead on battery, but check that your key apps run well on Arm. See our Snapdragon X2 Elite laptop guide.
Creators and power users: a Yoga Pro with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 offers strong performance and full app compatibility. Compare chips in our Intel Core Ultra laptop and Ryzen AI laptop guides.
Business users: choose a ThinkPad for security features, docking support and IT management.
Whichever you pick, get at least 16GB of RAM. In addition, check the exact configuration before you pay, since not every version of a model is a Copilot+ PC.
FAQ
Which Lenovo laptops are Copilot+ PCs in 2026?
Lenovo lists every Windows Yoga and IdeaPad laptop it announced at CES 2026 as a Copilot+ PC. Later models such as the IdeaPad Vibe qualify only on some configurations. Several ThinkPads also qualify on compatible configurations. Always check the exact model listing.
What is Lenovo Qira?
To sum up, Qira is Lenovo’s AI assistant for PCs, tablets and Motorola phones. It writes text, summarises updates and transcribes meetings, and it replaces Lenovo AI Now.
Does Lenovo AI work offline?
Partly. Qira runs on the device where possible and some actions work offline, while heavier tasks use the cloud. Copilot+ features in Windows, such as live captions, also run on the NPU.
Should I choose Snapdragon, Intel or AMD in a Lenovo AI laptop?
In short, pick Snapdragon for battery life, Intel for the widest app support and AMD for strong graphics at a lower price. All three meet the Copilot+ NPU requirement.
Is a Lenovo AI laptop worth it for students?
Yes, as long as it has 16GB of RAM and a Copilot+ chip. An IdeaPad gives students on device AI features, long battery life and room to grow.
