In just six weeks, Meta Muse went from launch to more than 10 million users. Meta released this personal AI agent on 8 September 2026, and it quickly reached the top of the app charts in the US.
In this guide, you will learn what Meta Muse can do, what it costs, where it works, how safe it is and how to get started.
Quick answer: Meta Muse is a personal AI agent that does tasks for you, such as sending emails, booking travel, filling out forms and shopping. It runs on Meta’s Muse Spark model, works on iOS, Android, the web and WhatsApp, and offers a free plan plus paid plans for heavier use.
What is Meta Muse?
Meta Muse is an AI agent, not just a chatbot. A chatbot answers questions, while an agent takes action. For instance, Muse connects to the apps you already use, such as email, calendars and payment services. Then it breaks a big goal into steps, works through them and checks back when something changes or when it needs your approval. Importantly, it keeps working after you close the app.
Behind the scenes, Muse runs on Muse Spark, a Meta AI model built for this kind of agent work.
What can Meta Muse do?
Overall, Meta lists a wide range of everyday tasks. Here are the main ones:
- Send and draft emails for you
- Book travel, including flights, hotels and dinner plans
- Shop online and check out with purchase protection
- Fill out forms on websites through its own browser
- Lower bills by negotiating on your behalf
- Plan projects, such as a house move or a weekend trip
On its 21 October earnings call, Meta said shopping is one of the most popular uses. At its Connect event in September, Meta also added shopping partners such as Walmart, Best Buy and Sephora, plus Shop Pay and PayPal for payments.
Plans and prices
Meta Muse has a free plan and subscription plans for heavier use. According to TechCrunch, the plans look like this:
| Plan | Price | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Trying Muse and light tasks |
| Power | $20 a month | Regular daily use |
| Maximum | $100 a month | Heavy users who run many tasks |
TechCrunch also reports that you need to add a payment card when you sign up, even for the free plan. In addition, Muse’s terms say you must be at least 18.
Where can you use it?
Muse launched in the US and then reached Canada on 18 September 2026. However, Meta has not announced dates for the UK, the EU, India or other countries yet.
Specifically, you can use Muse in four places:
- The Muse app for iPhone
- The Muse app for Android
- The web at muse.ai
- Inside WhatsApp chats
In addition, Meta launched Muse for Mac in September, which lets the agent take actions on your computer. Support for Meta’s AI glasses is planned in the coming months.
Is Meta Muse safe?
Muse asks for access to your email, calendar and payments, so trust matters. Meta lists these protections in its official Muse announcement:
- A private cloud computer. Each user gets a dedicated machine called Muse Secure VM.
- A gatekeeper for the internet. A separate system called Sentinel must approve any internet access.
- No access to passwords or cards. Muse cannot see your passwords or payment methods.
- Approval first. It asks before sensitive steps like sending an email or buying something.
- Single use cards. Each purchase uses a one time card number through Link by Stripe.
- No ad sharing. Meta says Muse data is not shared with its ad systems, and you can opt out of AI training.
Meta also says Muse is the first AI agent covered by Link’s purchase protections, which include help with lost or damaged items and price drops. You can read more in Meta’s security approach for Muse.
However, there are two caveats. First, Muse’s terms say you carry the risk of financial loss from actions it takes. Second, experts point out that Meta’s security claims still need independent review. So, start with small tasks and read every approval request.
Why did Amazon block it?
Meanwhile, Muse’s fast growth has caused friction. Amazon blocked Muse from its store, saying that continued access by an unauthorized AI agent breaks its conditions of use. The launch also shook markets: on 23 September, travel stocks such as Expedia and Booking fell sharply as investors weighed how agents could change booking and buying.
Muse for Small Business
On 29 September, Meta launched Muse for Small Business. In particular, this version connects to tools like Shopify, QuickBooks, Slack, Canva and Stripe, along with Facebook Pages, Instagram analytics and Meta ad accounts.
For example, it can draft replies to customers, flag important emails and suggest a growth plan based on your sales and social data. However, it does not publish, send or spend money without your approval. Meta offers a free version with paid plans for more usage, as described in its small business announcement.
How to get started with Meta Muse
Setting up Muse takes a few minutes:
- Download the Muse app or open muse.ai in your browser.
- Sign up with your account. You must be 18 or older and add a payment card.
- Connect the apps you want Muse to use, such as email and calendar.
- Set access levels for each app.
- Give Muse a simple first task, like planning dinner on Friday.
- Review and approve each action it asks about.
How it compares with other AI agents
Of course, Muse is not alone. OpenAI launched always on agents called Dots on 29 September, and Anthropic opened a preview of Claude Duet on 21 October. Muse stands out because it has a free plan and lives inside WhatsApp, which billions of people already use. By contrast, the other two require paid plans.

Is Meta Muse worth it?
Meta Muse is the easiest way for most people to try an AI agent today, thanks to its free plan and simple apps. Above all, it works best for booking, shopping and planning tasks with many small steps. Still, give it access slowly: connect one or two apps first, check its work, and only then add payments.
